Cerovlje is a municipal center that was created on an important traffic route of the road that connected Istra and Rijeka, and gained even greater importance in 1876 with the construction of the Divača - Pula railway. The settlement existed on the present site already in the 13th century, when the Aquileian patriarchs ruled this area. However, it is mentioned for the first time, as Cerovlje, in 1325 in the Istrian divorce, and in the Urbar of the County of Pazin from 1498, we find it as Czerolach.
At the headland along the Pazin - Rijeka road, right next to the railway crossing, there is a small church of the Holy Trinity from the 15th century, with the remains of frescoes by an unknown master from the time of its construction, which was expanded in 1588 by the local priest, Glagolitic priest Ivan Bubić, a native of nearby Previž.
