A stone house in the center of Stari Grad, close to the waterfront
This is a very interesting stone house in the Old Town that has an unusual characteristic! The house is approached from the street through a stone facade into an interesting courtyard, which is not visible at first. When the house was renovated, the then owner imagined that it would have an outdoor space, an open yard, and moved the new house away from the original facade. The facade of the house is actually set back almost three meters from the street. That part of the house has full height up to the roof, which in that part is transparent, topped with Pexiglas, and thus has natural lighting. From this semi-outdoor space, you enter the hall with a small kitchen and further from the corridor you enter two bedrooms and a bathroom with a shower.
From the ground floor, stairs lead to the first floor, where there is a balcony and a sitting area in the "outside" area, and the house has two rooms, one bedroom and the other living room. There is also a bathroom with a shower on that floor.
Stari Grad, one of the oldest cities in Croatia, was founded by Greek colonists from the island of Pharos more than 2,400 years ago, who named the new settlement after their island. The old part of the city is networked with a labyrinth of stone streets, in which it is a real pleasure to get lost and where you can find numerous cafes, shops and very interesting family restaurants with an excellent offer of local cuisine. In addition, the city is full of archaeological sites!
In the neighboring Stari Grad ferry port, Jadrolinija ferries operate several times a day and connect Split and Hvar. There is a daily catamaran connection with Brač and Split from nearby Jelsa. In Hvar, which is only 20 minutes away from the Old Town, there are by far the most catamaran connections with the nearby islands, and besides the oldest Communal Theater in Europe, it is also adorned with other beautiful buildings and attractions.
